Next set of photos from Shaynie’s and my trip to Vermont.  On Sunday we drove up to north Vermont to do a little horseback riding.  It was freezing!  And I didn’t have a heavy enough sweater on, so I wouldn’t let Shayne get gloves out of the car.  If I have to suck it up, so does she.  We had fun.

A few weeks ago I took a weekend trip up to Vermont with Shaynie.  We took a ton of photos, which I’ve narrowed down to about 50 to share with you.  Here is the first set, which includes the Saturday drive up and Sunday morning before horseback riding.

I had big plans for my Halloween costume.  I was going to do Swine Flu.  But then I found out that 2 people at work were doing Swine Flu for Halloween, and that made me worry that people at the party I was heading to would do it.  So I pulled a fast one and did Balloon Boy instead.  It took me 6 hours on Saturday to make the costume, plus 2 trips to Michaels, 1 to Home Depot, and another to the grocery store.

This being a photography blog, I thought I’d have fun with my day’s work in the form of a time-lapse video.  Enjoy that, and a few photos from the party.

Are those larger photos?!  Why yes!  I’ve realized the size of the photos on this blog are a lot smaller than those on…well, just about every other photoblog out there.  Even Facebook can display larger photos.  So I’ve increased the width of the photos by over 25%, to a size larger than most other photoblogs.  Now you won’t have to click through to flickr just to see what the photo is (although the links will still be there for those who enjoy flickr).  I may also tweak the look a bit more of the look soon.  What do you think?

Back during the first week of October, I went up to NY for the weekend to catch up with Kira and JJ.  On Saturday, we went up to West Point for the Tulane-Army football game.  Before the game, we ran across Jay and Jena LeBlang and a few other guys.  So we watched the game near them and enjoyed a little post-game tailgate before we headed back to the city.  Here are a few photos from the game, and Sunday morning.

Criticism is a touchy subject for a lot of people.  In general, we (beings of the astronomical object we know as Earth) don’t take kindly to criticism.  How many people enjoy being told they suck at life?  We don’t like to be told we don’t know how to drive properly, we don’t know how to dress well, we don’t know how to blog successfully, or we don’t know how to live correctly (interestingly, those are all true of me).

I, on the other hand, have learned to embrace criticism.  I know I’m not perfect, but I don’t always know how to do things better.  That’s where criticism helps.  Other people can tell me how I can do things better.  Of course I may not always follow criticism or suggestions.  For example, I’ve recently ripped off Brendan’s style (always the translation didn’t make it over all that well) and some people have criticized it.  Well, shove it!  I like it.

But, to tie it back to this blog, if any of the 2 people reading this have any suggestions or negative comments on my photos or blog, give it!  I’m new at this thing and learning, and while I do enjoy the compliments, suggestions will help me make better photos that you’ll enjoy more.

And more photos coming very soon.

Shayne was up in New York during October.  So I went up there to catch up with her, Jonathan, Lauren, and Troy.  We basically spent the day walking around, so here are a few things I caught.  Oh, and the newly-opened High Line is a really nice park on the West Side.

If you’re one of the 2 people who get to this page by going to http://jsangerman.wordpress.com, you might be interested to know that there’s a new address that will get you here.  As the first step to building an infrastructure for the photography business i may never start, i have registered the address http://www.imaginatephoto.com.  That address will get you to this page, so update your bookmarks and favorites.  If you have favorited any specific posts, the old address will still work, and will also get you here as well.  Oh, and “imaginate photo” will be the name of the business.

I am slacking with this.  Ok, more posting more often.  Anyway, here are the rest from my July 4th weekend home.  Here are a few more from our Saturday at Boca Grande and a couple from Sunday at at Looe Key.  I miss the water.

I have finally gotten to sharing photos from the Fourth of July weekend at my mom’s.  We basically spent the weekend out on the boat, and it was delightful.  This first group is from our Saturday at Boca Grande, off Key West.  More to come.
